Social Media

Everybody's at it

Social media is all around us these days and is far more effective than a quick natter over the garden fence or a bit of gossip with your mates. Even POTUS is on Twitter but the less said about him the better.

The more people that get to hear about us and the problems that we are dealing with, the more likely we are to help eradicate this scourge (although sadly we are not holding our breath).

Feel free to Tweet about us, Share on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest or whatever other networks you may be part of.

We have to believe that with increased publicity and understanding there is a chance to become the Nation of Doglovers that everybody thinks we are.

๐Ÿ™ COULD YOU GIVE PUCK HIS LOVING FOREVER HOME?

Beautiful Puck is a lovely, bouncy, noisy, affectionate 4 year old cross-breed who will make a wonderful companion.

He has a very troubled past - he was born in Bosnia and found abandoned in a box with his 5 siblings at the age of approximately 2 months.

Having failed in his homes, his rescue felt unable to cope with him and asked us to take him for retraining.

This endearing boy has come on in leaps and bounds. He is a busy intelligent dog with a huge personality. He loves learning new things, enjoys agility and needs an active adult home.

If you can give Puck the loving forever home he longs for, he will reward you a million fold and fill your home with fun and love. โ€˜Meet and greetsโ€™ with any dog(s) in the potential adopterโ€™s home would need to take place, to see if a bond is possible. Puck has not been cat tested.

If you feel you can take Puck into your heart and home, please call 07984 143 253 or 07498 066 279 for more information and fill in this form
www.dorisbanhamdogrescue.org/wp/apply-to-adopt-2/

Our search for the right home for Puck may take a while and we would be so very grateful if you would consider supporting him whilst he waits. We have 150 dogs in our care now who are all depending on the survival of our Charity for them to have a future. Times are very desperate and frightening at the moment and we need your support more than ever to continue our life saving work.
Please, please if you can even donate ยฃ1 it WILL make a difference and will go directly to paying for Puckโ€™s care as he progresses on his journey.

NALA NEEDS A CALM REASSURING HOME TO CALL HER OWN - COULD THAT BE YOU?

We were asked to take 2 year old Cane Corso Nala as an emergency, by a transporter who was doing a private home to home rehoming.

Nala is a very nervous girl, had panicked in transit and the new home would not take her. It was feared that the old family would put her to sleep. Nala had literally nowhere safe to go so she came into our care.

Nala is the sweetest girl, but she is nervous and needs time to get to know you. She still would prefer to run and hide rather than face a new experience.

Nala needs a calm home that will give her all the tlc and reassurance that she needs and continue our work in building her confidence.

She will need several visits to the kennels to build a bond but once she is sure of you her beautiful nature shines through and you could not hope to find a nicer dog. โ€˜Meet and greetsโ€™ would also need to take place with any dog(s) in the potential adopterโ€™s home, to see if a bond is possible. Nala has not been cat tested.

Are you the family who will give Nala the time and care to enable her to shine and flourish? If you are, she will bring you great joy, as you see her blossom and truly show you what a beautiful soul she is.

DORIS BANHAM DOG RESCUE โ€“ 20 YEARS OF UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

Today our Charity will have fought for 20 years in this painful world we call rescue to champion the most needy dogs and save their lives.

The Charity was set up on 23rd April 2004 in dedication to my Mum and I never conceived that it would progress to become the huge wonderful creature with a life and mission of its own that it has become today. Her compassionate ethos has always been its cornerstone. As a child she always told me to put myself in the position of any needy being and ask myself what I would want someone to do to help me e.g. if I was a worm stranded on the pavement I would want someone to lift me to the safety of some cool wet soil and I think this way about every dog we rescue.

This unconditional ethos has remained unchanged throughout but our beginnings were small scale - helping vulnerable dogs often in my own home โ€“ blind disabled etc and finding them homes where they would find understanding and a quality of life.

This did not last long however because, although I did not realise it at the time, we were destined for the pounds!

Many years ago when I was at the seaside a gypsy singled me out of the crowd and grabbed my hand. She said that I would run an organisation later in life. I laughed because idealist I am but business woman never! But now as I try to manage this powerful life saving force, sometimes holding on tightly by my fingertips, I believe that Doris Banham Dog Rescue was maybe always meant to be

And here we are after 20 years of fighting frontline against cruelty, injustice and the tragic extinguishing of precious lives. We are bloodied and often broken but we are still fighting and will continue to fight whilst we have our army of animal angels supporting us.

I have been completely bowled over by the goodness that still abounds in the hearts of the people of a society in total chaos. People will give when they have little themselves to save the life of a dog they have never met simply because they are truly good people and they know it is the right thing to do. They are truly an army of animal angels.

Our kennel team have little and they work their fingers to the bone day and night to keep the dogs cared for and loved. Our volunteers and shops work so hard and achieve so much because they truly believe in our mission and grant makers, sponsors and food donors support us so brilliantly because they believe in us and what we are trying to do.

Will we be here to celebrate our 21st year? I simply do not know but then I have really never ever known but I hope so very much because we are needed more now than we have ever been before.

It is impossible to regret the hard brave road we have chosen because of the thousands and thousands of lives we have saved, all of whom would be dead and would never have known the joys of the new lives we made possible for them and the pain and suffering we stopped.

Our future has always depended on having the funds to continue our work. Money is at the root of much animal cruelty and exploitation but it is also needed to put that wrong right. We use the funds to the maximum advantages because they are all for the dogs and thus save as many lives as they possibly can. If we had enough money, we could change the world for dogs. It is always really sad that the money is not in the hands of those who would do the greatest good with it.

As a rescue we are used to going headlong to save lives, sailing close to the wind saving life first and counting cost afterwards. I knew I could not go back to a dog and say โ€œI have the money nowโ€ because that dog would already be in a bag in the freezer because we had been their โ€˜last chance to liveโ€™ and we had said no. We have never been able to hold any reserves because all the reserves were always needed to save the dog who was imminently about to lose their life and 100% of funds have always belonged to those dogs and we are just the hub to turn them into whatever they needed.

We have had our back to the wall so many times and my health has suffered badly because of how frightening it is to be responsible for so many lives which would be again at risk if we were not there to keep them safe. I have placed my trust in the belief that if we continue to do only good hopefully good will always find a way to triumph.

So as we celebrate our 20th year of unconditional love, we would like our anniversary year to be a year when we remember the thousands and thousands of dogs we have saved and also those whom, although we tried with all our might, we were unable to.
We would like to celebrate the dogs we have in our care and be so very thankful for the amazing army of animal angels who support us so brilliantly. We ask you please come celebrate with us!

We would love all our supporters to join together in our anniversary plans and help us to raise funds so that we can say with certainty that we will be here next year to continue saving precious lives together. Please look for our anniversary posts and support us with all your wonderful hearts.

Together we make the world a better place and the animals need us so very much now more than at any time we have ever known. Together over the past 20 years we have achieved with extreme love and bravery more than we could ever have imagined but there is so much more to do.

Please letโ€™s make this anniversary year a year when we celebrate what we have achieved and make sure that we are here next year to achieve even more. God bless and lots of love Trudiexxxx

Beautifully written by a beautiful soul ♥

Amazing charity who save the lives of hundreds of dogs a year โค

I've set up a monthly standing order and will pay the rest of my life to your amazing rescue.

Aw happy anniversary without your rescue I would have never met the amazing foster mum Denise Bennett ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผโค๏ธ and adopted my own first ever rescue Daisy (red staffy). You rescued her on the day she was supposed to be Pts, the vet had said she was vicious and a high risk which was utter poppy cock he clearly had it in for the breed! My funny, sweet natured dollop was my world ๐ŸŒ I only got to spend 5 years with her due to lymphatic cancer but becuase of you and the team she had 5 years of being loved, spoiled and part of our bigger family and we were all with her when the day came to say goodbye ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ˜ข without you she would not have had all of that and a second chance at the life she deserved so thank you for everything you do ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผโค๏ธ xxx

U do such an amazing job, im sure your mum would be very proud x

ITโ€™S A GREAT BIG โ€˜THANK YOUโ€™ TO IAMS UK FROM GLORIA, JET AND TEDDY โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ

This generous food donation greatly supports Teddy, Gloria, Jet and friends as the quality of the nutritious IAMS food improves our dogsโ€™ health condition.

Here we have Teddy the 11 year old Husky, rescued from the pound in a neglected condition - now steadily improving. Then thereโ€™s Jet, who has been successfully treated for anal furunculosis and is getting back on track health-wise. Gloria, as youโ€™ll see in the main photo, is gaining weight nicely thanks to a quality diet and good care. Gloria was found tied up, in an emaciated condition.

We are so grateful to IAMS as we need this food very much, due to the fact that we rescue the dogs who are in most need and almost always in poor condition.
